Description
British knifemaker Mike Read specializes in the production of cutting-edge, non-locking folding knives. His first collaboration with Spyderco, the PITS (short for Pie in the Sky – Read’s username on UK knife forums), redefined the shape of the genre. The PITS 2 takes this evolution one step further with a truly unique non-locking mechanism consisting of two integrated spring arms incorporated into the handle scales. The front end of these arms, which supports the pivot point of the blade, flexes when the blade is opened to create the pressure for the notched pivot mechanism to push against the stop pin. The handle scales, carefully crafted from solid titanium, are paired with a satin-finished blade made from Böhler-Uddeholm’s M398 particle metallurgical stainless steel, which is ground completely flat. The symmetrical design of the PITS 2 is a remarkable expression of Spyderco’s SLIPIT concept. With reversible tip-up pocket clip. Warning and safety information:Cut injuries: The most common danger when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can quickly penetrate skin and tissue.Slipping of the knife: Improper or excessive pressure can cause the knife to slip, resulting in uncontrolled movements that can cause injuries.Injuries due to falls: Knives should never be left unsecured or near table edges to prevent them from falling and injuring someone.Blunt knives: Blunt knives pose a greater risk of injury as they require more force and can slip more easily. Knives should therefore be properly sharpened regularly.Improper use: Using a knife for tasks for which it is not intended (e.g. as a lever tool) can not only damage the blade, but also lead to accidents.
